Diplomats exchanged valuable information contained in then state-of-the-art electronic memory sticks disguised as fluffy rabbit toys by passing them under tables to their contacts and handlers at well-known restaurants in the Marlborough greater metropolitan area.

Secret Service agents gleefully intercepted some of these communications but not all, evidence suggests.

It is known that at least two former technicians who were employed at the Waihopai facility were whisked away under cover of darkness after suspicion that they were collaborating with activists settled on them.
