Corporations invested in the opposing armies, as international businesses had always done before. But only the Lord's faithful were granted exploration rights and revenues from sectors of space.

Before him came his priests, his clarion, his armour bearers, his horse. Before them came the wanderer, friend to the Lord, the pathmaker, invested with power from the Lord's father in Heaven, authorised to mark out safe zones and prepare the Lord's people against the gathering storm.
