They had their ¨own man¨ ready in advance to seize the Kingdom, excited by the prospect of mountains of gold and free air miles, never anticipating that the Chosen One would truly come as he had promised.

Each opportunity to re-edit the ancient books that laid the foundation of faith was used to twist and corrupt until in the end only the wise could discern the kernels of truth still hidden there like peanuts in turd.
